Firescald Branch Falls

This is a series of cascades on both Firescald Branch and Little Laurel Fork and at one point form a V of waterfalls where the two streams meet. At the top of the hill above Dennis Cove Recreation Area a forest service road branches off to the right just as the main road makes a hard left. Park and walk here if you're not in a 4WD vehicle. At a gate and creek crossing after 1.1 miles on this "road", turn upstream a few hundred yards.

1/3/2005 - Decided to finally check this one out today. Not much rain lately but there was still plenty of water. Decided to go further upstream looking for more insteresting things and bushwhack to the car. This worked for a short while, until the rhodo became so thick as to be virtually impenetrable. Headed up the hillside and met up with a trail along the ridgeline which met back up with the road we came in on.
