Flat Creek Falls 

Flat Creek Falls in Nantahala NF consists of a 100' drop and several hundred feet of cascades. The difficulty in reaching it is best described by Kevin Adams in his North Carolina Waterfalls book: "Viewing Flat Creek Falls from the base requires the most difficult and dangerous hike of any waterfall listed in this book."

6/5/2005 - Emmett and I headed out early, expecting 40% clouds and chance of rain. The hike is long and steep but not all that dangerous. It was bright and sunny and just about the time we gave up, clouds magically appeared. Saw a big timber rattler on the road soon after leaving. Kevin says "It is also prime rattlesnake country". Just glad I saw it through the windshield...
